Tracy Hamblen posed for this portrait at the Wales, a four-story building on Live Oak Street in Dallas, Texas on January 4, 2012. Hamblen, formerly homeless and diagnosed with bipolar disorder, moved into the building in 2007.
Once a destination for honeymooners, the Wales hotel declined with Dallas' growth, fostering drug users and prostitutes. After being acquired by LifeNet, the Wales became a residence for formerly homeless people.
LifeNet is a North Texas-based 401c3 nonprofit organization aimed at assisting mentally ill, homeless and chemically dependent populations. The organization had 2,000-3,000 clients.
